Image Mosaic & Blur Tool
Hide faces, license plates, addresses and account names before you post a photo — just drag over the part you want to cover and apply a mosaic, blur or solid fill. Your images are processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to a server. Works with touch on phones and tablets.

How to Use
- Load an image with the Choose Image button, or drag and drop one onto the canvas. On a phone or tablet you can simply tap the canvas area.
- Pick an effect: Mosaic (blocky pixels), Blur (soft smear), Black Out or White Out (solid fill).
- Pick how you select the area: Rectangle or Ellipse to cover a dragged region, or Brush to paint only where you drag. Ellipse suits faces; rectangle suits lines of text.
- Drag over the image to apply the effect. You can keep adding as many areas as you like.
- Use the Block / Strength slider to control how strong the effect is, and Brush to set the brush width. In brush mode the cursor becomes a circle showing exactly how much will be covered.
- Press Compare with Original to switch the view back to the untouched photo, and press it again to return — a quick way to spot anything you missed.
- Undo steps back, Redo steps forward, and Clear All returns to the image as it was loaded.
- Download as PNG, JPEG or WebP. For JPEG and WebP, the quality slider balances file size against image quality.
Which Effect to Use
- Mosaic: best when you want it to be obvious that something has been deliberately hidden, such as on social media or a blog.
- Blur: best for a natural look, for example passers-by in the background of a photo.
- Black Out / White Out: best for names, addresses and account numbers. The original colour data is replaced completely, so nothing can be recovered.
Notes & Limitations
- Images are processed only inside your browser and are never sent to a server. The edited file is saved to your own device.
- Editing and exporting both happen at the original resolution, so nothing is lost because the preview is scaled down.
- Supported formats: JPEG / PNG / GIF / WebP (depending on your browser).
- Undo and Redo keep your recent steps (up to 12, fewer for very large images).
- If your browser does not support canvas blur, the blur effect falls back to a mosaic automatically.
- Mosaic and blur leave some of the original colour information behind, so a weak setting may still be readable. Use Black Out or White Out for anything sensitive.
- Always review the finished image yourself before publishing it.

- A. Yes. Tap the canvas to pick a photo, then drag with your finger to hide things. Brush works well for fiddly details, ellipse for faces and rectangle for lines of text. No app installation is needed.
- Q. Can a mosaic be reversed to reveal the original?
- A. Mosaic and blur keep some of the original colour information, so a weak setting can sometimes be guessed at. For names, addresses or card numbers, use Black Out or White Out, or raise the block size considerably.
- Q. How do I check that I did not miss anything?
- A. Press Compare with Original to switch back to the untouched photo and press it again to return. Flipping between the two makes anything you missed easy to spot.
- Q. Can it detect faces automatically?
- A. Not at the moment — you choose the areas yourself. In exchange, everything runs on your own device and nothing is ever covered that you did not intend to cover.
- Q. Will the image lose quality or shrink?
- A. Editing happens at the original resolution, so the image never shrinks. Save as PNG for a lossless result, or choose JPEG or WebP and use the quality slider if you need a smaller file.
