Frequently Asked Questions
Can I make a JPG (JPEG) transparent?
You can load a JPG, but only PNG can store transparency, so this tool always exports PNG. It is handy when you want to make a JPG semi-transparent and save it as a PNG.
What is a “transparent PNG”? Does it remove the background?
A transparent PNG is a PNG image that can hold transparency (alpha). This tool makes the whole image uniformly semi-transparent. It does not remove only the background.
Is it free, and does it work on smartphones?
It is a free browser-only tool. No installation or sign-up is needed, and it works on both phones and PCs. Your images are never sent to a server; everything is processed on your device.
What is the difference between 0% and 100%?
0% keeps the image opaque (unchanged), while 100% is fully transparent. Use the slider or presets (25 / 50 / 75 / 100%) to set the semi-transparency you want.
