Turn a ratio like 16:24 into 2:3 in one step. This tool divides every term by the greatest common divisor to find the simplest whole-number ratio, supports decimal inputs, and handles up to 20 terms at once.
Simplify Ratio
How to Use
Basic Use
Enter numbers in the input boxes. The tool automatically divides them by their greatest common divisor and shows the simplest integer ratio.
Add or Remove Terms
Use the + button to add a term, up to 20 terms. Use the – button to remove a term, down to a minimum of 2 terms.

Visual Breakdown
The colored bar shows the share of each term. Hover over a segment to see the original value and percentage.
Close Alternatives
When the entered ratio is already irreducible, the tool suggests nearby values that can be reduced cleanly.
FAQ
What does it mean to simplify a ratio?
Simplifying means dividing every term by their greatest common divisor so the ratio is written with the smallest possible whole numbers. For example, 16 : 24 divided by 8 becomes 2 : 3. Multiplying or dividing all terms by the same number never changes the relationship, so 2 : 3 and 16 : 24 represent the same ratio.
How do I simplify a ratio that contains decimals?
Multiply every term by 10 or 100 until they are whole numbers, then divide by the greatest common divisor. For example, 0.5 : 1.25 becomes 50 : 125, which reduces to 2 : 5. This tool performs those steps automatically when you type decimals. For fractions, multiply all terms by the least common multiple of the denominators first.
What happens when a ratio cannot be reduced any further?
If the greatest common divisor is 1 (for example 7 : 13), the ratio is already in its simplest form. The tool shows your input as the answer and also suggests close alternatives that reduce cleanly, in case slightly different values work for you.
How is this different from the value of a ratio?
The value of a ratio a : b is the single number you get from a divided by b, so the value of 2 : 3 is 2/3 (about 0.667). Simplifying a ratio keeps the a : b form and simply rewrites it with the smallest whole numbers.
